Farmers Union presents award to Rep. Kalin
Minnesota Farmers Union (MFU) has awarded its 2007-2008 "Golden Triangle Legislative Award" to Representative Jeremy Kalin (DFL-Lindstrom).
MFU presented the award to Rep. Kalin, who is the Vice-Chair of the Energy Committee and also serves on the Transportation Finance Committee for his leadership on issues such as rural transportation funding and support for creating and enhancing energy markets for farmers.
MFU President Doug Peterson says "It is clear to us that in his short time in the legislature, Rep. Kalin has established himself as a leader on energy issues."
Kalin was successful in securing $200,000 for east central Minnesota renewable energy plant feasibility study that would convert cellulosic matter to make bioenergy. In addition, Kalin was actively involved in many pieces of energy legislation that passed in the last biennium including the Reneewable Energy Standard (RES).
In presenting the award to Rep. Kalin, MFU takes into consideration his voting record on agricultural issues, committee work, and his work with area farmer-members from his district.
Since 1942 the Minnesota Farmers Union has worked through its grassroots membership to promote and improve the lives of all people whether you are in a rural community, a farmer or a consumer, urban or rural. For more information contact MFU at 651-639-1223 or www.mfu.org
