Legislative Update - November 6, 2008
RE-ELECTED
With the election over, I can now begin Legislative Updates emails again. I am humbled and honored to earn the trust of Chisago County voters to serve another term in the Minnesota House.
After a long and grueling campaign effort, there is no rest for the weary. Yesterday, the leadership team of the Green Jobs Task Force met with the consultant developing our market analysis study. Today, I traveled to New Flyer hybrid bus manufacturer in St. Cloud for a Green Jobs Retention and Expansion Sub-Committee meeting, and tomorrow I travel to the University of Minnesota Morris for the Attracting and Creating Green Jobs Sub-Committee meeting. Our next full Green Jobs Task Force is next Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Journeyman and Apprentice Training Center in St. Michael, MN.
This evening the House DFL Caucus will meet to elect leadership for the next session and to begin discussing committee organization and legislative reforms. We have a lot of work to do.
The following are election results for the district:

HIGH SCHOOL PAGE PROGRAM
The Minnesota House of Representatives is pleased to announce that preparations for the 2009 High School Page Program are underway, and we are ready to begin accepting applications. For over 30 years, the High School Page Program has been committed to providing our state's future leaders with hands-on access to our state government in action.
You will find important program information and a downloadable application contained within this website:
http://www.house.leg.state.mn.us/edprog/introletter.asp
Read all of this information carefully, paying special attention to the section titled "Information for Students," and remember that in order to be considered, applications must be postmarked by November 14, 2008.
If you have any questions, or would like more information regarding the High School Page Program, feel free to contact Julia Miller at (651) 296-7452.
HELP NEIGHBORS IN NEED
Trinity Lutheran Church in Lindstrom has asked for help to spread the word that they have a need for donated new or gently used coats, hats, boots, mittens, gloves, scarves, and blankets. They distributed donated items like these to over 350 families in the county last weekend and have received numerous requests from more families asking for assistance.
If you have new or gently used coats, hats, boots, mittens, gloves, scarves, and/or blankets that you could donate, they can be dropped off at Trinity Lutheran Church 13025 Newell Ave, Lindstrom between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. or call the church office at 651-257-5129 if you will be dropping off items after the work day or if you need more information.
Please feel free to share this request with others.
As always I am happy to hear your thoughts, ideas, comments and questions.
My best,
Jeremy
